Reading is mandatory twice a year
Gradska plinara Zagreb, as the operator of the distribution system, in line with the Gas Market Act and the Network Rules for the Gas Distribution System, is obliged to perform reading of gas meters twice a year in all households in its distribution area.
In line with the provisions of the Gas Market Act and Article 50 of the Network Rules for the Gas Distribution System, the operator of the distribution system has the right to limit or suspend gas supply to end user, that is, the contracted service of gas supply in case the authorised person from the operator of the distribution is not enabled access to perform the reading of the gas meter and other metering equipment two times in a row. In case the reading can not be performed at the measuring unit, the operator has the right to estimate the supplied gas within an accounting period on the basis of the average amount of gas supplied in the corresponding accounting period, of up to three previous years. The operator of the distribution system can perform the estimation of supplied gas at a single measuring unit no more than two times in a row.
All authorised persons from Gradska plinara Zagreb have the right to request from the end user access to the gas meter at any legally prescribed time.
Hrvatska pošta (Croatian post) is the contractual partner which performs readings on behalf of Gradska plinara Zagreb. The next reading is from 15 December 2017 to 15 January 2018.
End users who can’t enable the reading of their gas meters in the announced period can submit their gas consumption data with no charge at 0800 3445.
Gas meter reading submission
End users have the right to agree with the gas SUPPLIER (supplier issues a bill for consumed gas based on the reading performed by the OPERATOR) the establishing of a monthly obligation for supplied gas based on monthly gas meter readings performed by the end user, which, in the case of gas supply as a public service, is considered a non-standard service and we suggest that end users contact their supplier regarding gas meter reading submission.

Gas meter reading complaints:
Gradska plinara Zagreb, as the operator of the distribution system, in line with the Gas Market Act and the Network Rules for the Gas Distribution System, is obliged to perform reading of gas meters twice a year in all households in its distribution area.
- GPZ is obliged to perform reading of end user measuring units from the household category on June 30 ± 15 days, and is obliged to perform readings of each measuring unit 365 ± 3 days from the date of the last annual reading. The legally prescribed time to perform the readings is working days and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., unless the measuring has a device for remote meter reading.
- Article 63 of the Gas Market Act states that the end user is obliged to enable to the operator of transport or distribution system, to which they are connected, installation, maintenance and reading of the gas metering device.
- Article 99 of the Gas Market Act states that the end user - natural person is obliged to enable the operator of transport or distribution system, to which they are connected, installation, maintenance and reading of the gas metering device. Fines for failure to do so are HRK 2,000 to HRK 15,000.
- For the same misdemeanour, the legal entity shall be fined HRK 5,000 to HRK 20,000, and the responsible person in the legal person shall be fined HRK 2,000 to HRK 15,000.
